Name the cemetery explicitly and distinguish it from similarly named sites. Ask for the complete grave reference, not only approximate directions.

Transfer the grave reference to the cemetery map. The interactive map helps with entrances and landmarks but does not replace a burial plan or official grave enquiry.
For this cemetery, always ask for the section and any qualifier such as “an der Mauer”. With about 65,500 graves, a description such as “near the main entrance” is not sufficient. Only then choose the most suitable entrance and save the return route; the southern portals, main entrance and northern exits are far apart.
Do not confuse the main cemetery with the neighbouring independent Neuer Jüdischer Friedhof and Jüdischer Friedhof Rat-Beil-Straße. Graves there have different administration and access arrangements.
